Token Types
Every launch declares a tokenType: Meme or Utility. This choice is permanent once deployed: it determines which pool fee tiers and starting prices are valid for that token, and it's baked into the pool at creation time.
| Meme | Utility | |
|---|---|---|
tokenType value | 0 | 1 |
| Pool fee tiers available | 1% only | 1%, 2%, or 3% |
| Intended use | Fast, community-driven launches | Projects wanting fee-tier flexibility |
Both types share everything else: same supply (1,000,000,000), same 18 decimals, same one-sided LP seeding, same 750-day lock, same optional sniper protection and holder rewards. The only functional difference is the set of pool fee tiers and starting-tick ranges the factory will accept.
Why fee tiers are restricted per type
The pool fee tier affects the platform's cut of collected LP fees (see Fees & Holder Rewards): higher fee tiers take a smaller percentage cut, since the absolute fee revenue at a higher tier is already larger. Restricting meme launches to a single 1% tier keeps their economics simple and consistent; utility launches can trade off a higher pool fee (more expensive to trade, but a higher share retained by the project) for a lower platform percentage.
Picking a starting price
Both types require a startingTick that's a member of the factory's configured valid-ticks list for that (pairedToken, tokenType) pair. Read it live with getValidTicks(pairedToken, tokenType) rather than hardcoding a value, since the exact set can be adjusted over time. See Launch Settings for how starting price and ticks relate.
